Just Keep running

These past two weeks have been pretty great! I've run so much the world's biggest blister is currently living on my foot. It is disgusting. And while some pretty noteworthy things have happened the thoughts in the forefront of my mind are future events. So here is the lineup:
4 days until I'm done working at Safeway.
3 Weeks until the Colfax Marathon
2 Months until I fly home for Tim's wedding.
And...about six hours until that darn cat wakes me up....short post because its time for bed!

Standing on my head!

Today in yoga I managed to stand on my head. It started on Saturday, I went to class, and instead of just going into crow position I lifted my legs into the air and supported myself with my arms, balanced on my head! It was amazing and tonight I did it again! Well, until I fell over.

Today I had the night off from Safeway, so I ran 8 miles in the park before yoga. A fast 8 miles. It was great; not unbearably hot, a little bit of sunshine peeking through the clouds.

And I gave my two weeks notice at Safeway last week. Somehow I got convinced to stay an extra week...but soon I'll have an extra 20 hours a week to live my life!

Pranking Liz

Yesterday, I got out of work and met Noel at yogurtland. And there we hatched the plan that would occupy the remainder of our evening.

It all started last week when Liz gave us her spare key set in case she ever locked herself out or lost her keys. That's practically permission to prank her. So we fetched the keys and hightailed it over to her apartment. The plan: Get Liz's stuffed lamb, Lambchop, and then take it on a tour of the city, and snap photos of the lamb in strange and exciting places. But alas, we arrived at Liz's place and she was home. So we altered the plan. Instead of doing all this alone we'd do this while with Liz, taking the pictures when she wasn't looking.

So we went over to the Rooster and Moon Coffee pub for dinner, and took pictures while biking with the lamb, in the restaurant, and in the bathroom. Before leaving we pulled out the lamb and told Liz what we had been doing. Then we ran! We hopped on our bikes and were "on the lamb." We biked off with Liz in pursuit. Thinking we were going to the grocery store for cookie dough Liz chased us there. However we went to her apartment, took a couple more photos and put Lambchop back on her bed. Before putting him back I asked on of Liz's neighbors if I could take a picture of her strangling the stuffed lamb. And now featured on facebook is a photojournal of the night's escapades.

Today, after yoga I went over to the Goodwill. I just wanted a shirt, but it turns out today was everything is 50% off day. What a terrible day to go to Goodwill! I spent forever waiting in the checkout line behind an old hoarder lady who HAD to have $200 worth of ceramic plates. As I was leaving the Goodwill I saw a store across the street. A used book store that was having a going out of business liquidation sale. As soon as I walked inside I was in the fantasy/sci-fi section. The whole first room was full of my kind of books! (And there were 5 rooms!) The paperback books were 8 for a $1. So I found 8 really great books, soo excited! But, I didn't have any cash on me, and the store wouldn't let me use a debit card unless I spent $10. So back into the stacks I went until I found 9 dollars worth of more books. Success! Until it was time to bike home with all that stuff.

The Zombie Apocalypse

This week the Wellness Committee held two events that I participated in. The self was a self defense class, which was kind of a joke, but I do have a tiny bruise on my wrist, and I think I scared the guy I was paired up with. The second was a lunch/diorama art show. Today we had lunch catered by Udi's (delicious!) and a diorama art show/contest where people made a diorama out of Peeps. My team's "peep show" was titled "Peep Show" but was actually a Peep Strip club. We ad some pink bunny dancer/stripper peeps, and some off-brand googly-eyed duck peeps sitting around watching them in a glitter filled box with velvet curtains. It was very classy. To add to the effect I downloaded the song "Sexy and I know it" and put my ipod under the stage so that it played on repeat to set the mood.

Alas our diorama came in 2nd place to the "Oh Peep, Where Art Thou?" Diorama which had a very detailed tableau of peeps in overalls on a stage. I personally liked the diorama that had a bunch of yellow bunny peeps sitting around a campfire roasting bits of a pink peep...

Yesterday I discovered that the "Zombies, Run!" Iphone app has been released, and by the time I got an itunes gift card and was ready to download it, the app was on sale for 50% off (still through this weekend I believe!) After spending hours backingup my iphone content so I could upgrade to iOS5 I managed to download the app, and restore all my music (except all my playlists have disappeared). So today after work I headed out to Wash Park to test out this App. The premise of it is, while you run the app tells a story in the background, with audio clips of speech playing in between the songs while you run. The story is set in a post apocalyptic world after a zombie uprising, and you are a runner for a human camp, out running through the unprotected area trying to gather supplies for the colony. As you run the story unfolds, and about every mile (by my guesstimate) the app tells you that zombies are chasing you, and you are forced to speed up, and sprint for a set time. It was pretty entertaining, and will definitely motivate me to do more interval training! Not only will I be prepared for the Colfax Marathon in May, but I may even survive the impending zombie apocalypse!
